Susie Q Newbigging makes ceramics and designs accessories drawing on the inky blues and indigo textile traditions which she grew up with in Asia.

Susie works predominantly in blue and white, using mark-making techniques to develop patterns on paper before translating them onto her ceramics and textiles. Her ceramics are either hand-built using porcelain paper clay or thrown on the wheel and her work is both functional and decorative.

Susie has a master’s degree in education, health promotion and international development from UCL and is an experienced workshop facilitator with a strong interest in public engagement and community arts. She is a member of the Kiln Rooms in Peckham.
