Featured Artist: Jonathan Haydock

Hey Jonathan. Let’s talk about your work: Where do you create your art?
I work from home on Nunhead Lane. Before moving to London in 2014 to study for an MFA at the Slade School of Fine Art, I had been living and working in Montreal in Canada.

My closest friends who live and work in South East London paint, print, create video, installation and perform. The network I’ve found here is incredibly rich and inspiring. It’s great to be surrounded by so many talented people.

Tell us about your practice: How did you get into it and what do you love about it? What’s the most difficult part of the process?

I work mostly with photographic imagery, print making and video. I’m drawn toward fiction over reality, and through my work I like to experiment with regular perceptions of the everyday, creating exaggerations and abstractions of both digital and real space.

The most difficult part about what I do is not having enough time in the day to do all I want, and gaining access to the equipment and facilities I need to make it.

Where can people find your work online and get in touch?

You can find me on my website www.jonathanhaydock.com and on Instagram: www.instagram.com/jmshaydock
