Sanchia Lewis

After completing her foundation year at Medway College of Art in 1979 Sanchia studied printmaking at City and Guilds of London Art School, gaining her Certificate in Advanced Printmaking with distinction and winning the Stephen Goodman Engraving Award. Since leaving college in 1982 Sanchia has exhibited widely in the U.K. and internationally, exhibitions include, The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Honor Oak Gallery, Horniman Museum SE23, The Nunhead Art Trail and Dulwich Open House, recently her work has been featured in several books published by Mascott Media.

Sanchia’s oil paintings and prints reflect an interest in naive and folk art, her paintings of birds, animals and mythical creatures are richly textured and patterned with a jewel-like, sometimes three dimensional quality.

Since 2001 Sanchia’s studio has been a converted stable building in what was once an Edwardian builders yard by the side of her house near Peckham Rye.
