Emma Shoard

Emma illustrates books for children and teens, draws at events, makes maps and goes no where without her sketchbook. Emma’s work focuses on bringing subjects to life. Utilising the medium of ink, charcoal and pencil to create drawings that capture movement and purpose through free, fast mark—making.

Emma’s latest book, Life on the Thames, comes out in September and takes young readers on a journey from the river’s source to the sea, exploring habitats and learning about different species on the way. The inspiration for this book has been a decade living on barges and a many more years being fascinated by the natural world.
