Open call: Exhibition Curator at Copeland Gallery for Peckham Festival – Arts Council funded
This open call is now closed for Peckham Festival 2023. If you would like to get involved, have you considered volunteering? Or if you have specific ideas you would like to share with us feel free to reach out to [email protected]
After recently receiving the fantastic news that Peckham Festival has secured Arts Council funding, we are delighted to offer a special open call opportunity for a curator to take over Copeland Gallery to deliver an exhibition at this year’s event, running from 15th-17th September.
Copeland Gallery will be offered free of charge, and the curator will receive a £2,000 Art Council funded curation fee. We are looking for a curator with exciting ideas for an exhibition that is tied to Peckham Festival’s principles of celebrating creative and cultural Peckham in all its forms and across its different communities.
Located minutes from Peckham Rye Station at the heart of Copeland Park, Copeland Gallery is a landmark within Peckham’s cultural quarter – a large and flexible 4,200 sq. ft. space, with whitewashed walls and striking exposed concrete floors. It has provided a supportive platform for emerging artists since 2013 and played a key role in the rise of Peckham’s art scene, housing hundreds of exhibitions, fashion shows, and community workshops.

Peckham Festival is an annual free arts festival celebrating the diverse culture and creativity of Peckham. The event encompasses open studios, exhibitions, performances, live music, talks and workshops, while regularly attracting between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors across the festival weekend. The Copeland Gallery exhibition is a key highlight in the festival programme.
We encourage applicants who are Peckham based or have a connection with the area and surrounding neighbourhoods. We will consider proposals from first-time curators right through to more established names and will be making selections based on the quality of the proposal and fit with Peckham Festival’s programme.
Applicants should send an email to [email protected] with an exhibition proposal including:
- Exhibition Overview and Background
- Exhibition Details and Contents
- Any relevant background information on contributing artists/organisations
This open call is now closed.
