Explore Peckham with these Free Events

It’s always amazing to see how proud Peckhamites are of SE15…

We were blown away when tickets for our launch event: Peckham Streets, sold out in 24 hours, and the response to the Peckham Peculiar Evening Architecture Tour with Benedict O’Looney was an instant hit! So much so , even a second scheduled walk sold out!

If you missed out on tickets to either of these great events, do not worry: the fun absolutely doesn’t end there, because we’re here to tell you that we have a number of incredible events over the weekend which you can still book onto, and, to make things even easier we’ve listed a selection below so you can book your spot straight away to avoid any disappointment!

Peckham Sound Map – with Peckham Soul

Free
From the SE15 recording home of Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, too venues playing host to Desmond Dekker, Alton Ellis and I Roy, to formative gigs by Joe Strummer, Ian Dury, Elvis Costello and The Who – Peckham and South-East London’s rich musical history is often obscured by the prestige given to North of the river. But from his original ‘Peckham Sound Map’ print, designer Craig Jamieson takes you on a guided journey, uncovering Peckham’s unique and diverse musical legacy.

How to Approach Drawing a Portrait with Mark Pearson

Free
Mark Pearson has been documenting Peckham life through his paintings for a number of years. His well renowned work captures the essence of Peckham beautifully, and often depicts the people who live, work and play here. Mark Pearson’s workshop asks the question: How does the novice or experienced artist tackle the portrait? Mark will initially show by example how this can be achieved stage by stage. Then the participants will join a small group and working in either charcoal or pencil they will produce their own drawing. Mark will guide the process, teaching the size relationship of the features and the way the light falls on the face to obtain a resemblance of the subject.
