And the Band Played On and On

Art can be soothing, calming, inviting, and clever. But rarely is art upsetting.

This show seeks to explore images that provoke feelings of upset consistent with the Climate Crisis facing the world today. In art, feelings can’t be approached “Head-on”. For example, an image of a polar bear stranded on an ice-berg, without any means of escape.

In this show upset is evoked by means of images spoiled, splashed, handled carelessly, or neglected. The outcome is loss. How is this loss to be coped with? By turning away, or can grief be experienced. Will the last wild polar bear be grieved for?
