Join us on Thursday 14th September for the launch of Peckham Festival 2017 at the Peckhamplex for a special evening celebrating the history of our streets.
William Warren and Southwark Archives present a fascinating evening of rarely seen archive footage of Peckham through the ages. This intimate examination of the area will uncover Gaumont Film Studios’ early-1900s slapstick recorded in Champion Hill, shots of local parades dating back to 1913 and catwalk shows at the prestigious Jones & Higgins, as well as breathtaking drone footage of Rye Lane as it is today.
We will be joined by a host of special musical guests including Ruby Write, Prints of Wales, Dropout sound workshop, Honey Hahs, and spoken word poet Dzifa Benson.
