This September a very special performance company comes to Theatre Peckham as part of Peckham Festival.

Extraordinary Bodies – the UK’s leading integrated circus company of actors, musicians, circus performers and storytellers. They are a circus company that make shows for every body, with a number of their artists being D/deaf, hearing, disabled and non-disabled.

Hosted by Theatre Peckham, 20 mixed ability participants from Peckham, will be experiencing integrated performing arts such as circus (including aerial work!), dance, storytelling and drama; leading to a public performance for the festival on the final day exploring what it is like to live Peckham in 2017 and will use these stories and ideas to help create their next show in 2018.

A spokesperson for Extraordinary Bodies said: “We create large scale, bold, radical and joyous performance. Our artistic practice increases awareness, capacity and leadership for integration of D/deaf, disabled and non-disabled artists working equally together in the arts nationally.

“We make work with, for and about our communities; work that represents the diverse makeup of our society – onstage, offstage and in the audience.”
